Cape Town – Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has hailed Relebohile Mofokeng’s impact after the 21-year-old winger scored the extra-time winner that sealed a 1-0 Carling Knockout Cup final victory over Marumo Gallants.
Despite a season disrupted by injuries and fatigue, Ouaddou backed Mofokeng to stay on the pitch — a decision rewarded when he struck in the 115th minute.
The coach noted that after playing 40–45 matches last season, the youngster “is not a robot” and needed time to regain fitness.
“You know the President is very important for us in our team… The season before he- [Mofokeng] played 40-45 matches, he is not a robot,” Ouaddou said.

“I can understand that he was a bit tired. We gave him some rest, and he came back with very good fitness.”
“You can see in the last three, four games that we played, he was part of the success of the team, he did some fantastic assists.”

Ouaddou said Mofokeng has shown his value in recent matches with key assists and a Man of the Match display against Durban City. Although still not at full strength, the coach believes even a “70%” Mofokeng can transform the team — and at 100%, he could help deliver major titles.
