Cape Town – Morocco enjoyed a golden evening at the 2025 CAF Awards in Rabat, with Achraf Hakimi named Men’s Player of the Year and Ghizlane Chebbak honored as Women’s Player of the Year.
Hakimi’s accolade caps a trophy-laden year at Paris Saint-Germain, where he lifted the Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and UEFA Super Cup, and reached the FIFA Club World Cup final.
The 27-year-old right-back also played a key role for Morocco, helping the national team secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

In accepting the honour, Hakimi expressed heartfelt gratitude, “It is really a proud moment for me … this trophy is not just for me, but all the strong men and women who have dreams of being a footballer in Africa.
And for those that always believed in me since I was a child … I would like to thank them all.”

On the women’s side, Chebbak, 35, was celebrated after a phenomenal Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, where she scored six goals in seven matches — including a hat-trick and a goal in the final.
She now becomes the first Moroccan woman ever to win CAF’s top individual honour.
Reflecting on her win, she said, “I am extremely delighted to receive this award … this is the fruit of a lot of hard work over the years.”
