Johannesburg – Stellenbosch of South Africa topped a CAF Confederation Cup group on Sunday despite conceding an added-time goal in a 1-1 away draw against Singida Black Stars of Tanzania.
A superb solo goal from 20-year-old striker Langelihle Phili gave the visitors a 52nd-minute lead in the matchday two clash in Zanzibar City.
Phili took the ball from the halfway line and held off two defenders before firing past Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie.
Stellenbosch, who exceeded expectations by reaching the semi-finals in their Confederation Cup debut last season, retained the lead while under constant pressure until added time.
