Cape Town – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos was pleased with the 1–0 win over Ghana but disappointed with his team’s overall performance, saying they lacked their usual movement and passing quality.
“Let’s say I am happy with the result … but we can play much better. We didn’t play very well, we didn’t have the movement we are used to with this team. Our passing was not good, so there is still a lot of work to do for us to be at the highest level this week,” Broos told SABC Sport, according to The Citizen.
Despite the below-par display in the unofficial friendly, Broos remains confident the team will be ready for their opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations match against Angola.

The Belgian suggested some players may have held back to avoid injury, noting a similar poor warm-up performance before the previous AFCON, where Bafana went on to finish third.
He also cautioned against reading too much into the result, stressing that the encounter was merely a training exercise and not a true measure of his squad’s preparedness, Kickoff reported.
He also expressed satisfaction with the development of defender Khulumani Ndamane, who has grown into a regular feature in the national side since earning his first cap earlier this year.
“First of all, it’s already a fantastic thing for him that he can go with Bafana Bafana to AFCON,” said Broos.
“Secondly, every game that Khulumani has played, I was satisfied. Also, today and the previous games he has played.
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has once again underlined his faith in Khulumani Ndamane, praising the TS Galaxy defender for his consistency and reliability in national team colours.

“So, I’m very happy with him. I know if there is something happening behind, I can always count on him. He proved again today that he deserves to be with us.
“So, for me, that is what makes me happy. Two years ago, we won games because there were guys on the bench who came in and decided the game.
“So, I’m very happy with him. If he is playing or if he is on the bench, I know I can always count on him,” he went on.
