Johannesburg – Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero faces a motion of no confidence, brought by the Democratic Alliance (DA), set for Wednesday.
Although in office for ten months, the DA claims Morero has failed to improve the city.
“Fact is Dada Morero is failing as a Mayor in Johannesburg. We are ready to remove him from the mayoral seat and appoint a capable and competent mayor who will serve the people of Johannesburg with honesty and integrity,” the DA said in a post on social media.

The DA, with only 71 seats in the 270-member council, needs backing from other parties to reach the 136 votes required to oust him.
According to EWN, Morero remains confident, saying that the coalition government, comprising 141 councillors, will vote against the motion.
“We have decided collectively with the government of local unity or our partners in the coalition, that we will vote against the motion. So, the motion will be voted against by the collective of the coalition, which is currently constituted by 141 councillors,” the report quoted him assaying.
Other key figures, ANC’s Sthembiso Zungu and ActionSA’s Nobuhle Mthembu, also face similar no-confidence motions.
