Johannesburg – The ANC and EFF have dismissed concerns about Helen Zille’s candidacy for Johannesburg mayor under the DA.
According to EWN, while the DA highlights her governance experience as former Cape Town mayor and Western Cape premier, EFF Gauteng leader Nkululeko Dunga argued Zille lacks understanding of Johannesburg’s complex issues.
ANC national chairperson Gwede Mantashe criticised the DA’s governance record, claiming it benefits mostly white suburbs while neglecting townships, and urged ANC councillors to challenge the DA effectively.

“We must deal with the myth of the DA way of governing . It’s a myth. What we should unpack and breakdown is the fact that, yes, the DA is doing well in white suburbs. It is neglecting townships and, therefore, our councillors are happening to be in townships. They have the responsibility to pull up their socks and take their fight to the DA, which controls the councils. That requires a disciplined fore,” Mantashe said.
