Cape Town – Former president and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma delivered the 8th Annual Leadership Lecture at the University of Professional Studies Accra in Ghana, framing his party as “the only true hope for the last stage of the total liberation of the South African people.”
Speaking on Brics, global politics, and Africa’s economic independence, Zuma outlined the MK Party’s eight pillars, which focus on reclaiming dignity, land, the economy, human capital, safety, and Africa’s sovereignty.
“Together, these pillars embody the uncompromising vision of the MK Party as the only true hope for the last stage of the total liberation of the South African people, a liberation not just from apartheid’s political chains, but from the economic captivity, poverty, unemployment, and neo-colonial domination that continue to strangle our nation,” The Citizen quoted Zuma as saying.

“Unlike the compromised so-called Government of National Unity, the MK Party represents the genuine continuation of the liberation struggle, carrying forward the spirit of our forebears to deliver full freedom, dignity and prosperity to every South African.”
He criticised Africa’s dependency on the West, describing it as exploitative, and called for stronger intra-African solidarity, particularly between South Africa and Ghana.
Zuma emphasised that Africa’s youth, women, students, and innovators must drive the continent’s liberation, urging a shift from dependence to self-sufficiency, innovation, and leadership.

The former president reiterated his long-standing call for a single African currency, inspired by Muammar Gaddafi’s vision of a gold-backed African dinar, as a means to transform 54 vulnerable states into a united negotiating bloc of 1.4 billion people, African Times reported.
He also praised political shifts in the Sahel, describing military takeovers in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger as “acts of liberation” against Western domination.
Zuma linked his international message to domestic politics, presenting the MK Party’s “People’s Mandate,” an eight-pillar manifesto emphasising reclaiming land, mineral resources, economic power, sovereignty, and security for South Africans.
He dismissed South Africa’s Government of National Unity as a compromised entity aligned with neo-colonial forces, positioning the MK Party as the true custodian of the liberation struggle.
