Cape Town – The newly formed Afrika Mayibuye Movement (AMM), led by former EFF leader Floyd Shivambu, is facing internal turmoil after its deputy president, Dr Nolubabalo Mcinga, was fired for organisational and political misconduct.
According to the party, Mcinga was removed after holding an unauthorised meeting with uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma, violating AMM’s rules that require prior approval for all engagements.
“The national officials of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement have unanimously resolved to remove Ms Nolubabalo Mcinga as the first deputy president of the organisation, effective immediately,” said national spokesperson Sydney Baloyi in a statement on Friday.

The decision, confirmed by party spokesperson Sydney Baloyi, was made to “protect the integrity of the organisation,” though Mcinga will retain her party membership pending disciplinary action.

Mcinga, however, has rejected her dismissal, claiming she co-founded and built the movement, and accusing Shivambu of weak and insecure leadership.
She criticised him for avoiding direct communication and for fostering a culture of gossip, saying he “can’t face women.”
“With Afrika Mayibuye, I am still a member. Why not? Why would you form something and want to leave it? I formed it and I recruited, I mobilised, I brought people into Afrika Mayibuye. I cannot just leave my constituency like that,” Mcinga told broadcaster Newzroom Afrika while wearing an MK party-branded dress.
The public fallout has highlighted early divisions within the AMM, which was launched only in September, raising concerns about leadership stability and internal cohesion in the fledgling political party.
