Johannesburg – EFF secretary-general Marshall Dlamini has denied speculation that the party is in talks with former MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi about a return as a mayoral candidate for Johannesburg.
“No, there’s no such thing. There’s no discussion like that,” Dlamini said during an interview with SABC News.
He was speaking ahead of the party’s voter registration campaign launch.

Dlamini said the EFF is following its own internal processes and will announce candidates in due course, with decisions to be made by its central command team after consultations.
He confirmed this will be the first time the EFF fields mayoral candidates, while emphasising the party’s current focus is on mobilising voters, noting millions of eligible South Africans remain unregistered.
Dlamini also dismissed claims of a talent drain within the party, saying the EFF remains strong and focused on its programme ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
