Cape Town – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party has denied claims of internal factionalism following the circulation of leaked letters allegedly calling for disciplinary action against party leader Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, and Parliamentary Chief Whip Colleen Makhubele.
One letter, supposedly written by MK deputy president John Hlophe, accuses Zuma-Sambudla of unruly behaviour and calls for her reprimand, while another seeks the removal of Makhubele for being autocratic and for supporting Israel —actions allegedly contrary to MK values.
The letters also criticise party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela for “disruptive” conduct and claim he insulted Makhubele and undermined party authority.

However, Ndhlela denies receiving any such letters and says Hlophe told him his digital signature had been misused.
Speaking during an interview with Newzroom Afrika, he said:
“We have seen, and I’ve also come into contact with that letter via, obviously, social media, as it was trending and circulating. Let me categorically state the following: I’ve had a conversation with the party leader, Dr Hlophe, and the party leader then said to me, ‘My digital signature has been abused’, and I mean, I pretty much left it at that.

“So effectively, I’ve never seen that letter in a physical form, I’ve never received it,” Ndhlela said.
“Well, I guess we’re referring to the same letter.”
He reaffirmed Makhubele’s leadership in Parliament and dismissed any notion of disunity within the caucus.

Despite repeated leadership changes and past administrative issues in the party, Ndhlela insists the MK parliamentary caucus remains strong and united.
The matter is reportedly expected to reach Nkandla for Zuma’s consideration.
