Cape Town – Former ANC president Thabo Mbeki told KwaZulu-Natal ANC members that the party’s decline is partly due to people joining it for personal gain rather than its liberation ideals.
Speaking at a political school in Durban, he said the ANC once attracted members committed to the struggle but shifted after becoming the governing party, drawing individuals seeking self-enrichment instead of advancing the movement’s objectives.
