Cape Town – MK Party member Mzwanele Manyi has denied reports of his resignation, affirming his continued commitment to the party despite being removed from his parliamentary position.
Manyi was last month removed from his position as MK Party’s chief whip.
He was replaced by Colleen Makhubele, whose appointment was formally announced in Parliament by National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza.
Manyi’s dismissal followed an alleged fallout with party caucus leader Dr John Hlophe, reportedly sparked by Manyi urging Hlophe to deliver a last-minute speech he claimed came from party founder Jacob Zuma, IOL reported.
It later emerged that Zuma was unaware of the speech, leading to internal tensions.
In a video on Tuesday, Manyi said: “We have got work to do. We have got a tremendous majority to attain. Stop distracting us, we are busy, we are building MK.”
