Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has slammed the government’s National Dialogue, calling it a waste of R700 million in state funds.
Speaking at the Siyabonga rally in Seshego, Limpopo on Saturday, where the EFF celebrated retaining ward 13 with 57% of the vote against the ANC’s 39%, Malema said the dialogue served no purpose other than boosting certain individuals’ egos.
He added that the government already knows the country’s problems and should not waste money on fruitless events.
“It really did not serve any purpose. If anything, it was saving the egos of certain people, and therefore it was a waste of money. NGOs and people who participated in that preparations suggested that it must be postponed, because they are not ready only to go and embarrass themselves the way they did,” Malema said.

“We don’t support this convention. We don’t support the national dialogue. We know the demands of our people. We cannot spend R700 million of the money that we don’t have.”
Malema expressed confidence that the EFF would expand its support in Limpopo ahead of the 2026 local government elections, aiming to win wards across the province.
He also paid tribute to the widows and children of the Marikana massacre victims on its 13th anniversary, reiterating that the tragedy remains central to the EFF’s identity and that justice has still not been served.
