Pretoria – Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is appearing before the Madlanga Commission, facing scrutiny for disbanding the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) without consulting senior police leadership.
On Thursday, he admitted there was “no meeting, no briefing, and no formal engagement” before instructing the team’s dissolution.
The PKTT had been investigating politically linked assassinations in KwaZulu-Natal and other areas.
Mchunu struggled to defend his decision during cross-examination by commission chair Justice Mandisa Madlanga, with many witnesses accusing him of failing to consult stakeholders.
