Cape Town – ActionSA has chosen to abstain from the vote of no confidence against Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero, citing dissatisfaction with his leadership and the city’s poor service delivery.
Despite this, the ANC-led coalition still holds enough seats (142) to keep Morero in office.
ActionSA’s Michael Beaumont said the party sees no reason to defend the mayor, pointing to issues like non-functioning traffic lights as evidence of governance failure.
“We have communiccated to the ANC that we will not be voting to defend Dada Morero in today’s Council meeting. We have ccome to this conclusion because frankly speaking, service delivery in Johannesburg has collapsed…,” Beaumont said.

“The evidence is abound wherever you are in Johannesburg – the traffic lights are not working, the streets are falling apart, the electricity outages are more than they have ever been… Johannesburg residents aspire more than that kind of leadership.”
