Pretoria – ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has confirmed that he is among the senior staff at Luthuli House whose salaries remain unpaid, following yet another delay in salary payments by the ANC.
According to City Press, general manager Patrick Flusk informed employees in a 29 November letter that November salaries would not be paid on time, marking the latest in a series of financial failures that have left workers struggling with unpaid bills and bounced debit orders.
Flusk assured staff that the delay was not their fault and promised eventual payment, but frustrations had escalated to the point that employees planned to protest.
“This serves to inform you that there is a delay in the payment of ANC staff salaries for the month of November 2025, which impacts the ability of our staff to meet their financial obligation to you,” the report quoted Flusk.
At a Sunday media briefing ahead of the ANC’s upcoming National General Council, which serves as a major mid-term review of the current leadership, Mbalula revealed that staff members had initially planned to protest over their unpaid salaries.

He said that the protest was called off after the ANC paid lower-level staff, though management — including himself — is still awaiting payment.
“The component member of staff that is not paid is management, starting with me, secretary-general. All our staff below have been attended to in terms of salaries,” said Mbalula.
“We are working on resolving this issue through our rigorous fundraising efforts to ensure that our staff bill is settled. The ANC every month has to service the staff salary to large amounts of 20 million per month.”
He said the party is trying to fix its financial crisis through ongoing fundraising, noting that the ANC’s monthly salary bill is about R20 million.
The crisis follows serious financial strain at Luthuli House, including an October raid by the Sheriff of the Court, during which office furniture, electronics and other equipment were seized to settle a portion of the ANC’s debt.
