WATCH | ‘I lost my brothers’: Malema speaks on betrayal and political rift

Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema spoke on political betrayal during a church address in Soweto on Sunday, reflecting on biblical parallels to former allies turning against him.

“I lost my brothers now. They turned against me and I never looked back.

“I’ve never, not even once, doubted myself when my brothers turned against me,” Malema said.

“It is not for the first time that the brothers turn against each other. It is there in the Bible. It doesn’t start with them, so why should I be a crybaby when they turn against me?”

His comments followed a social media post by Dali Mpofu, who shared a photo of himself with ex-EFF leaders Floyd Shivambu and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

“What a week… Now I know why they say a week is a long time in politics!! In the middle of everything else the MK SG & I found time to break bread with ‘the one who sings beautifully’. Maybe we should co-author the long awaited bestseller book entitled The Three Betrayers,” Mpofu captioned the photo accompanied by laughing emojis.

But Ndlozi rejected the label, distancing himself from Mpofu’s remarks.

“So petty! I totally reject this tweet, both its letter and spirit,” Ndlozi said.

Having officially resigned from the EFF, Ndlozi denied rumours of joining Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, which has already attracted former EFF figures like Shivambu and Mpofu.
