The announcement was made at the DA’s federal congress held at Gallagher Estate on Sunday, where the party confirmed the election process was free and fair.

The Cape Town mayor steps into the role as the DA eyes further growth and a stronger footing in coalition politics, following gains under Steenhuisen, who said he leaves the party “on its feet” — a far cry from the 16% polling and internal divisions he inherited in 2019.
