Cape Town – EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo has confirmed that the bus involved in the deadly crash on the R34 was carrying party supporters returning from a Youth Day rally in Durban.
Twelve people were killed and 32 injured — 12 seriously — after a truck allegedly sideswiped the bus around midnight, tearing it open.
“The EFF is saddened by the tragic passing of 12 people who lost their lives in a devastating accident along the R34 near Vryheid. The EFF has confirmed that the transportation was taking members home from our June 16 rally in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal,” Thambo said in a statement.
