WATCH | ‘Conduct yourself like a secretary-general’ — Mogotsi calls out Mbalula

North West, South Africa – Controversial North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has accused African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula of using his name to target Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Speaking exclusively to multiple media outlets, Mogotsi, who has been implicated in the Madlanga Commission, said Mbalula should “conduct himself like a proper secretary-general” while reiterating his willingness to voluntarily step aside amid scrutiny over alleged links with businessman Vusi Matlala and Minister Mchunu.

“I am an ANC member in good standing. My membership expires at the end of October,” Mogotsi stated, defending his political affiliation amid ongoing controversy.

Mogotsi also leveled several allegations against Mbalula, including:

  • Using a lavish foreign-owned boat when National Orders of Bravery recipients were transported to Robben Island on a single government boat.

  • Traveling abroad with Vusi Khekhe, who was convicted of killing Wandile Bozwana. Mogotsi claimed Mbalula was with Khekhe two days before Bozwana’s death, and that Bozwana had given Mbalula R1 million.

  • Benefiting from a housing scandal involving Mbalula’s wife.

  • Leveraging Mogotsi to launch attacks on Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

  • Retaliating after Mchunu canceled a R360 million contract awarded to Matlala.

The accusations come amid ongoing scrutiny over Mogotsi’s alleged role in siphoning funds from Matlala to finance ANC activities.

Last week, Mbalula informed journalists that Mogotsi’s ANC membership had lapsed, effectively removing the North West businessman from the party’s ranks.
