Cape Town – Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s ad hoc committee on Thursday to respond to corruption allegations in the criminal justice system.
Committee chair Soviet Lekganyane confirmed Mchunu will testify over two days.
Mchunu was implicated by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who accused him of interfering in police investigations, disbanding the political killings task team (PKTT) beyond his mandate, and having ties to corrupt businessmen while protecting organised crime figures.
Following these allegations, President Cyril Ramaphosa suspended Mchunu.
Mchunu has denied all claims, calling them “baseless,” and stated he is ready to present his side of the story.
The hearings will begin at 11am on Thursday.
