Cape Town – Mzwanele Manyi has been removed as chief whip of the MK Party in parliament and replaced by Colleen Makhubele, a rising figure in the party.
The change was announced by deputy leader John Hlophe, who thanked Manyi for his service and urged party members to support Makhubele as she takes on the new leadership role.
“We thank him for his service and dedication to the MK Party and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Times Live quoted Hlophe as saying.
He added: “We are confident she will lead with strength and vision as we continue to advance our collective mission. Let us rally together in support of this leadership transition and remain steadfast in our commitment to the party’s goals.”

According to IOL, Manyi’s dismissal was first shared on MK Party WhatsApp groups.
“Please be informed that Hon. Mzwanele Manyi has been relieved of his duties as Chief Whip with immediate effect. We thank him for his service and dedication to the MK Party and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
“We are pleased to announce that Hon. Colleen Makhubela has been appointed as the new Chief Whip of the MK Party. We are confident that she will lead with strength and vision as we continue to advance our collective mission,” read the message.
Manyi, who joined the party in August 2024 after leaving the EFF, has faced internal criticism for arrogance, poor leadership, and causing divisions, the report said.
