Cape Town – Preparations are underway to honour the late former deputy president David Mabuza, who died last week in a Sandton hospital after a short illness.
Three memorial services are scheduled for Thursday across Mpumalanga’s regions.
Government will announce further funeral arrangements during the week, with Mabuza set to receive a Category 2 state funeral on Saturday.
“In terms of the State, Official and Provincial Official Funeral Policy Manual of The Presidency, the State Funeral Category 2 is reserved for the Deputy President of the Republic, an Acting President and Former Deputy Presidents,” the presidency said in a statement.
