Cape Town – The South African Presidency has announced the delegation accompanying President Cyril Ramaphosa to the White House next week.
The team includes four Cabinet Ministers: Ronald Lamola (International Relations), Khumbudzo Ntshavheni (State Security), Parks Tau (Trade and Industry), and John Steenhuisen (Agriculture).
Ramaphosa is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on Wednesday to address key issues such as trade, geopolitical matters (notably Ukraine and Gaza), and G20 cooperation.
The visit aims to mend bilateral ties following Trump’s threat to skip the upcoming G20 Summit in South Africa over alleged genocide concerns involving Afrikaners.
Relations between South Africa and the US have deteriorated since President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
Trump has openly criticised Ramaphosa’s administration, and in February, he signed an executive order halting all US funding to South Africa.
The move was in response to South Africa’s land reform policies and its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
