Cape Town – Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane has stepped down after facing mounting political and public pressure over claims she misled Parliament about the independence of the panel that recommends SETA board appointments.
She announced her resignation on Monday, just ahead of an expected formal dismissal by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Her resignation a day before she was due to appear before Parliament’s higher education committee to account for the process, after missing two prior meetings.
Nkabane confirmed her dismissal in a statement, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
