Cape Town – Forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan and his former assistant Sarah-Jane Trent are expected to appear before Parliament’s ad hoc committee on Thursday as O’Sullivan resumes his testimony after walking out of last week’s hearing to catch a flight.
He has since apologised to the committee, chaired by Soviet Lekganyane.
“Honorable members, we have received an apology from Mr Paul O Sullivan, we have circulated the apology with you. he is apologising for what happened during the proceedings last week,” Lekganyane confirmed, according to SABC News.
O’Sullivan will answer outstanding questions about allegations that he unlawfully infiltrated the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) and interfered in its investigations.
MPs are expected to challenge him strongly, with some accusing him of being in contempt of Parliament, while the Economic Freedom Fighters has even filed a criminal complaint against him.
Former prosecutor Michael Mashuga also testified that O’Sullivan and Trent interfered in IPID investigations and allegedly targeted former acting police commissioner Khomotso Phahlane.
