Johannesburg – Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says he would be fine if he is not chosen as the ANC’s mayoral candidate, emphasising that he was not “born a mayor” and that his political and work credentials earned him the position.
Speaking at the ANC’s 16th regional elective conference, Morero noted that the party has not yet finalised potential mayoral candidates, with the regional executive committee recommending names to the national body.
“If one is not nominated, it’s not the end of the world. I was not born a mayor I was just at the right place having led the ANC, I have political credentials and work credentials it is the ANC that said come in,” The Citizen quoted him as saying.

Traditionally, the region’s chairperson becomes the mayoral candidate, but reports suggest a national figure could also be considered.
Morero is competing with Loyiso Masuku for the regional chairperson position, with 300 delegates voting, though the outcome remained uncertain. He said he is ready and has done his lobbying but refused to predict the results.
Joburg mayor Dada Morero is expected to lock horns with the city’s Finance MMC Loyiso Masuku for the leadership of the ANC in the metro. The ANC’s regional elective conference runs from Wednesday to Friday. Political analyst Dr Ntsikelelo Breakfast has more. #Newzroom405
