Johannesburg – Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has survived another political challenge after a planned motion of no confidence against him was withdrawn.
The motion, brought by Al-Jama-ah and backed by the UDM and ATM, was set to be heard on Tuesday but the parties chose instead to resolve their concerns through a round-table discussion with the ANC-led coalition.
The minority parties stressed that their dissatisfaction is with Morero’s leadership, not the ANC itself.

“The other partners agreed that they feel our pain but suggested that we have a word instead of a motion,” EWN quoted UDM councillor Yongama Zigege as saying.
This marks the second attempted no-confidence vote against Morero in 2025, after he previously survived one initiated by the DA six months earlier.
