Cape Town – EFF leader Julius Malema has called for Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating police corruption to summon prisoners with information on crime syndicates.
“I want us to deal with the aspect of criminals who are already in prison who might share a lot of information with us… very dangerous criminals… How do we get them here? Can we summon them here? If you’re talking drugs and drug cartels, you must know you’re talking about people who are already in prison,” EWN quoted Malema as saying.
During its first meeting, the committee elected ANC MP Soviet Lekganyane as chairperson and began working on its terms of reference.
Malema and other MPs suggested the committee should meet in Johannesburg during the August recess to accommodate Gauteng-based members, but only at a venue that incurs no extra cost.
