Pretoria – An official from the SAPS legal division is set to testify at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria on Thursday, becoming the third witness after KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkwanazi and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
The testimony will focus on the legislative framework governing SAPS, particularly the legality of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s decision to disband the KZN Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
The witness is also expected to address Masemola’s suspension of his deputy, Shadrack Sibiya, who allegedly ordered 121 PKTT case dockets transferred to police headquarters without authorisation.
Masemola claims Sibiya’s actions interfered with investigations and protected criminal cartels.
Another witness will testify on Friday.
