IFP’s deputy chief whip KP Sithole gunned down in cold blood

Cape Town – The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has confirmed the assassination of its Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament, Khethamabala Petros “KP” Sithole, who was shot and killed in Katlehong, Gauteng, on Saturday evening.

The IFP expressed deep shock and sadness, urging law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Sithole, 68, was a veteran leader in the party, having served in various senior roles, including Gauteng Provincial Chairperson.

“It is with shock, sadness and utter grief that the IFP announces the untimely passing of Hon Khethamabala Petros Sithole MP (68) who was assassinated in Katlehong earlier this evening by unknown assailants.

“Hon KP Sithole was a member of the IFP’s National Council and served as the Party’s Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament.
“Details are still sketchy at the moment, and it is the IFP’s expectation that the law enforcement agencies will spare no effort to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” the party in a statement.
The IFP described him as a dedicated and hardworking leader and extended condolences to his family, calling his death a major loss for both the party and the nation.
“Hon Sithole was a hard working servant leader of the people and our country. We have lost a trusted patriot and a diligent leader of the IFP.
“Jobe joined the IFP in his youth, and served in various Party structures including being IFP Gauteng Provincial Chairperson,” said the party.

It  added: “The IFP is poorer today with Jobe’s passing, and South Africa has lost a good man who served his country par excellence.”
