Johannesburg – National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola is set to appear in court on 21 April in connection with the R360 million South African Police Service health services tender awarded to businessman Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that Masemola has been formally summoned and pledged full cooperation with the investigation.

“He has taken note of the charges brought against him and he has pledged his full cooperation, with all lawful processes.
“He welcomes any investigation or lawful process that seeks to address any allegations of wrongdoing,” Mathe said.
The summons follows a series of arrests by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (Idac), in which at least 12 police officers and Matlala were charged with fraud, corruption, and money laundering related to the tender. Those officers were granted bail ranging from R40 000 to R80 000.
