Cape Town – Acting Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana reportedly survived a failed hijacking attempt at his home in Westonaria, west of Johannesburg, on Monday morning.
During the incident, his driver fired at the attackers, who then fled and left a firearm behind in Kekana’s yard, reports said.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said more details would be provided soon, The Citizen reported.
The incident occurred shortly after President Cyril Ramaphosa placed Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on immediate leave amid allegations of connections to organised crime.
