Cape Town – Former DA MP and popular social media personality, Renaldo Gouws, has joined the Freedom Front Plus (FF+), saying its values align with his own.
FF+ leader Dr Corne Mulder welcomed Gouws, highlighting his political experience as a Nelson Mandela Bay councillor (2016) and National Assembly MP (2024), as well as his large online following of over 400 000.
Gouws said he was excited to return to politics after his departure from the Democratic Alliance (DA) last year, which followed the resurfacing of an old video in which he repeatedly used the offensive K-word directed at black South Africans.
“I’m proud to announce that I have joined the Freedom Front Plus. This decision wasn’t made lightly. After careful consideration, I’ve found in the Freedom Front Plus a party that truly aligns with my core values and vision for our nation,” he said in a post on X.

Gouws left the DA after his membership was terminated in 2024 and he was forced to apologise for a resurfaced 2010 video containing racially offensive language.
In a statement, the FF+ expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Gouws, noting their shared commitment to freedom, self-determination, and the safeguarding of minority rights.
