ape Town – Former DA MP Liam Jacobs, 24, has been named the Patriotic Alliance’s (PA) mayoral candidate for Cape Town in the 2026 local government elections.
PA leader Gayton McKenzie praised Jacobs as a strategic asset and highlighted his role as president of the party’s youth wing, the Patriotic Youth Alliance.
Jacobs, who previously defected from the DA and briefly pursued mayoral ambitions in Tshwane, also served as a Johannesburg councillor and was linked to a potential MMC for Transport role, which did not materialise due to concerns over his readiness, The South African reported.

In Cape Town, Jacobs has promised to champion inclusive governance and youth empowerment, pledging to fight for a city “that works for the many, not a select few.”
McKenzie has publicly lauded Jacobs as a rising talent, criticising the DA for exploiting him and expressing confidence that the PA will guide him to future political success.
