According to The Citizen, Manyi said he continues to serve as an MP under the MK party.
“Colleen Makhubele takes over as chief whip, and I continue in terms of MK (party) and so on. So, I continue in parliament, and even today I am in parliament,” the report quoted Manyi as saying.
The party expressed gratitude for his contributions and reaffirmed his continued importance to their broader objectives.
The leadership change, communicated through a message allegedly from MK Party Caucus leader John Hlophe, is said to be part of a broader restructuring effort within the party.
The change was announced by deputy leader John Hlophe, who thanked Manyi for his service and urged party members to support Makhubele as she takes on the new leadership role.
“We thank him for his service and dedication to the MK Party and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Times Live quoted Hlophe as saying.
He added: “We are confident she will lead with strength and vision as we continue to advance our collective mission. Let us rally together in support of this leadership transition and remain steadfast in our commitment to the party’s goals.”
