Pretoria – Police reportedly descended on the Centurion home of Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya, over allegations of defeating the ends of justice.
However, SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said no arrests had been confirmed.
“As you all know, there are investigations that are ongoing as publicised and mentioned at the [parliament] ad hoc committee and the Madlanga commission.
“As Saps, we are not aware of any person that has been arrested thus far and that includes Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya,” said Mathe on Thursday.

According to The Citizen, the possible arrest is linked to Sibiya’s transfer of 121 criminal case dockets from KwaZulu-Natal’s Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) to SAPS headquarters in Pretoria, following Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s order to disband the task team.
KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi alleged Sibiya and Mchunu colluded to halt ongoing investigations and protect criminal networks.

Sibiya, suspended last month, is also under scrutiny for his personal relationship with controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who faces attempted murder charges.
His attempt to return to office was rejected by the Gauteng High Court on 9 September.
The matter is under investigation as part of the Madlanga Commission probing political interference, corruption, and collusion within the criminal justice system.
