Cape Town – A discovery in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, has led to the arrest of a 33-year-old woman following the gruesome death of a 37-year-old man.
Police were alerted to a residence in Wesselton, Extension 2, on Monday, 11 August, where responders found body parts concealed in a plastic bag and a maize-meal bag.
Preliminary investigations indicate the victim was fatally stabbed during an argument with the woman, who allegedly then dismembered his body in a bid to hide the evidence. She has been formally charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli provided details of the case, confirming the shocking nature of the violence.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has appreciated the one who reported the matter to the Police.
In a statement Mkhwanazi further expressed his concern over murders that are reportedly perpetuated mostly by people who are either in a relationship or known to the family members.
“When the time comes for the release of crime statistics, we often experience that cases of murder are committed by people that are close to each other. This is where we urge communities to work collaboratively with us to prevent similar incidents. Such type of incidents reflects moral decay in the society,” said the General.
The suspect is facing a charge of murder as well as defeating the ends of justice. She is expected to appear at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 August 2025.
