Flagstaff, Eastern Cape – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested three suspects, including the wife of a murdered Flagstaff school principal in the Eastern Cape, following a meticulous investigation into his killing on 19 November 2025.
The 59-year-old principal was reportedly killed at around 19:45 at his Siphaqeni homestead while with his family.
The arrests were made on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
“A team comprised of the Flagstaff Station Commander, Detectives Commander, Vispol Commander, Crime Intelligence, and Public Order Policing pounced on the 35-year-old alleged hitman at Luqoqweni locality in Lusikisiki at about 02:00,” SAPS said in a statement.
“An unlicensed Silver Norinco 9mm pistol with an erased serial number, along with fourteen live rounds of ammunition, was recovered. The alleged hitman was arrested on the spot.”

Following this, the team proceeded to Flagstaff, where the 40-year-old middleman and the 52-year-old wife of the deceased were also arrested.
“The trio is due to appear before Flagstaff Magistrate Court on Thursday, 11 December 2025, on charges ranging from murder to conspiracy to murder,” SAPS said.
“The 35-year-old hitman will first appear before Lusikisiki Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, facing charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of live ammunition.”
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, praised the investigation, saying, “I commend the Detectives Head for the speedy arrest of suspects through sharp investigation skills. I also commend the foot soldiers in making sure that suspects are all brought to book to face the full might of the law.”
The arrests come as a relief to the local community, who were left shocked by the brutal killing of the school principal.
