Welkom, Free State – Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested a 40-year-old man wanted for stabbing his wife and brother-in-law in a violent domestic incident.
According to the SAPS Free State Twitter account, the suspect, attached to the Welkom Public Order Police (POP), was traced and apprehended following the attack, which took place on Friday, 19 December 2025.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law, 34, with a butcher knife before proceeding to stab his wife, 31, on the head,” the police statement said.

Police received information about the suspect’s whereabouts on Sunday, 4 January 2026, leading to his arrest. “His arrest follows an incident that occurred on Friday, 19 December 2025,” SAPS confirmed.
The SAPS did not immediately provide details on the current condition of the victims or whether charges had been formally laid.
The investigation remains ongoing.
