Polokwane — Two male suspects, aged 29 and 32, were arrested following the fatal assault of their 55-year-old father in Ga-Mothapo village, Tjatjaneng, in the Mankweng policing area on Saturday, 19 July 2025.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) Limpopo Provincial Commissioner’s office, police responded to a complaint of domestic-related assault at approximately 11:00 on Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim severely assaulted and unable to speak.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been assaulted by his two sons following an argument.

“The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident. The victim was certified dead upon the arrival at the local hospital,” Ledwaba said.
Police launched an intensive manhunt and apprehended both suspects at a hideout in a nearby village during the early hours of Sunday morning around 03:00.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 July 2025, facing charges of murder. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
