Cape Town – Tiffany Nicole Meek, accused of murdering her 11-year-old son Jayden-Lee Meek, has returned to the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Tuesday for the continuation of her bail application.
She has been in custody since her arrest earlier in July.
On Monday, the State presented evidence suggesting the child was injured and killed at their home.
Jayden-Lee was reported missing on 13 May, and his body was discovered the following morning, just eight metres from the front door of their home at the Swazi Complex in Fleurhof. He was found clothed in black underwear near the staircase of the complex. His school bag, books, red school jacket, and shoes were found and documented as part of the evidence.
The court heard disturbing details of the child’s final moments from both Sergeant Ncebo Diko and Sergeant Linda Duma. Diko testified that Jayden-Lee was injured and killed at home, describing visible wounds including cuts on the forehead and chin. Sergeant Duma supported this, stating that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. He also noted bruises on the boy’s neck, arms, and right leg, along with blood on his lips.
Tiffany has denied any involvement in her son’s death and reacted with disbelief in court when the evidence was presented, claiming it had been altered. The investigating officer, Sergeant Duma, further testified that Lee’s affidavit contains inconsistencies, and she was seen returning to the complex at 4am on 14 May and leaving again at 5:30am—shortly before Jayden-Lee’s body was discovered.
More testimony and evidence are expected to emerge as the bail hearing continues.
