Cape Town – Two schools in Limpopo have fallen victim to armed robberies, with suspects making off with laptops, airtime vouchers, and cash in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to IOL, the first robbery took place at Mahonisi Primary School in the Malamulele policing area at around 3am.
Four armed men wearing balaclavas allegedly confronted a security guard on duty, tied him up and forced him to open the administration block.
Police confirmed that a shot was fired before the suspects stole laptops, cash and airtime vouchers.
In a separate incident, Humula High School in Mukhomi village was also targeted between Friday night and Saturday morning. The suspects broke into the administration block, ransacked several offices, and cut open a safe. Laptops were among the items stolen.
A burglary occurred at Sebora Primary School in Maseng a Labone Maloba, Mashashane, Limpopo.
Two suspects were captured on security footage during the incident, and authorities are appealing to the community for assistance in identifying them.

As stated by provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, both incidents are being investigated as business robberies. He condemned the attacks, saying they directly undermine the education system in rural areas.
“Schools are meant to be safe spaces for learning, not targets for criminals. These robberies take away vital tools that learners depend on,” Ledwaba said.
According to police, no arrests have been made yet, but investigations are underway to determine whether the two robberies are linked.
Officers have appealed to anyone with information to contact Sergeant Shadrack Mabunda on 063 447 7375, the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111, or to submit anonymous tips through the MySAPS app.
