Cape Town – Forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan has renewed his attack on senior police leadership. He insists that KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and national police commissioner General Fannie Masemola “belong in prison”.
O’Sullivan made the remarks on Tuesday morning as he arrived to testify before Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating allegations of corruption, political interference and misconduct within SAPS and the broader justice system.
“Whatever happens, happens,” O’Sullivan told journalists outside the parliamentary precinct in Cape Town. “The rogue elements in the police are a problem that has been in the country for more than 20 years… Now we have a couple of rogue generals, like Khumalo, Mkhwanazi, Masemola. The three of them, the gang of three, they all belong in prison,” he said.

According to earlier reports by TimesLIVE, Mkhwanazi has previously dismissed O’Sullivan’s allegations as baseless and has pursued legal action against him, arguing that the claims damage his reputation.
Masemola has also denied wrongdoing, maintaining that SAPS leadership is committed to rooting out corruption within its ranks.
Despite this, O’Sullivan remained defiant, saying the inquiry was long overdue. “The truth is finally coming out,” he said. “And when it does, some very senior people are going to have to answer in court.”
The parliamentary committee is expected to continue hearings in the coming days before compiling a report with recommendations, which could include criminal referrals should evidence of wrongdoing be established.
