Durban – A man died after allegedly jumping from the N2 bridge at the Umgeni Interchange on Saturday afternoon, 20 September 2025.
According to KZNVIP, their Control Centre received “multiple reports via social media” just after 12h30 about a possible suicide incident on the bridge connecting the N2 and Umgeni Road.
“KZNVIP Tactical Officers and Medical Teams were immediately dispatched,” the organisation said in a statement, according to Arrive Alive.
Upon arrival, KZNVIP officers were told by members of the public that a black TSI VW Polo had pulled over near the bridge. “A male exited the vehicle before climbing onto the ledge,” said a KZNVIP spokesperson.

The victim’s identity could not immediately be established, as no wallet or form of identification was found at the scene.
SAPS later arrived and took over the matter for further investigation. “The exact circumstances and motive cannot be confirmed at this stage,” KZNVIP said.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident or the victim’s identity to contact their nearest police station.
