Cape Town – A massive fire has broken out at SA Breweries in Soweto, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay away from the area.
Johannesburg Emergency Services say the fire began when grass in a nearby field caught alight and spread to storage crates on the brewery premises.
There have been no reported injuries or fatalities, and emergency crews are working to contain the blaze.
“EMS Firefighting crews are currently responding to a fire incident call at the South African Breweries (SAB) in Soweto. The blaze reportedly began when grass in a nearby field caught fire. No injuries have been reported,” the Johannesburg Emergency Services said.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
