Cape Town – A daring attempt to rob a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle was foiled on Wednesday morning in Umlazi, near the bustling Mega City Mall, after the security driver took quick action and drove into the mall complex to evade heavily armed suspects.
According to reports from @_ArriveAlive and SCP Security, the CIT vehicle was targeted by suspects who allegedly ambushed the van during a routine transit.
In a dramatic turn of events captured on video, the driver diverted the vehicle into a pedestrian passage inside the mall, forcing the suspects to abandon the pursuit.
“The security vehicle dashed for safety inside the mall,” Arrive Alive posted on X (formerly Twitter), adding that the suspects turned back after the driver entered the confined shopping centre area.
