Cape Town – A driver and passenger narrowly escaped serious injury after their car plunged about 100 metres off Chapman’s Peak Drive in the Western Cape on Sunday morning.
The crash occurred on the Noordhoek side of the pass just after 9am, temporarily forcing the closure of the road.

Emergency services responded to the scene, where the vehicle was found badly damaged on the rocks below.
One occupant was rescued from the car and taken to hospital, while the other was treated at the scene.
Video footage shared on social media showed one man climbing out of the wreckage.

The incident adds to a long history of serious accidents along Chapman’s Peak Drive, which has previously seen fatal crashes, dramatic rescues, and closures due to rockfalls and adverse weather conditions.
