Cape Town – A Checkers Sixty60 delivery driver died in a head-on collision with a police van on Voortrekker Road in Bellville, Cape Town, on Monday, 23 June.
Videos circulating online show the driver wedged under the front tyres of the police vehicle.
The incident is under police investigation, with limited details released.
Checkers Sixty60 drivers are independent contractors, expected to deliver groceries within 60 minutes, regardless of conditions. They own their own motorcycles and purchase their uniforms.
This latest tragedy follows a string of accidents involving Sixty60 drivers.
