Johannesburg – Police are investigating a case of common robbery after a viral video showed an e-hailing driver being attacked by three unknown men.
The incident is believed to have taken place on 28 February 2026.
The victim officially opened a case on 2 March 2026 in Sophiatown.
Following investigations, suspects were identified and traced by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, leading to the arrest of four suspects on 3 March 2026.

The South African Police Service said it appreciates public cooperation in helping law enforcement trace and arrest suspects.
“The Management of SAPS extends their gratitude to the members of the public for their continuous support in ensuring that suspects are arrested and brought to book,” police said in a statement.
Authorities confirmed that the four arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon as investigations continue.
